BOWL BOUND??

If it wasn't for the reality that is the rest of our season schedule I would be thinking BOWL GAME.

Tech looks really tough. I watched the end of the Tech/Nebraska game. Tech punched in a must have touchdown in the waning seconds to win and quiet the crowd in Norman.

I like the one article I read, that kept referring to Iowa St as last year's North Co-champions, and saying how the North Division is the weak link in the Conference. But hey to say we beat the North Co-champions on the road, I will take it!!

Maybe we can pull an upset against Nebraska or OSU??

One can dream, can't they???

What about that Astros/Braves game yesterday. WOW! 2 Grand slams, 18 innings, a series ending walk off home-run and Clemens coming out of the bullpen for the first time in 21 yrs to get the win.

  • I was able to watch the A&M game on TV up here. From what I saw and what I've heard from the other games, I am very impressed so far.

I knew Guy was the right coach for us, and I knew he was turning it around, but WOW! I knew there were improvements that have been made, you could even see that last year. I knew there were improvements made this year, but I did NOT expect THIS much of an improvement!

I had a feeling we were going to win against Iowa State... and we did. Another monkey off our back. (ANY road victory was the first monkey... Army was a turning poing, I think.) Road CONF win was second. Third... two conference wins in one season. I BELIEVE we will get that this season.

Everything is coming together very well. Defense has made great strides! Teams are not going through our line like the wind through a screen door anymore. Offense is also doing good. We have multiple threats in our receivers, two greats running backs that really compliment each other, one of (if not thee) best punters in the NCAA, great special teams. Plus, we are holding onto the ball and not turning it over along with taking away the ball from other teams.

The one thing that had me worried after the A&M game was our field goals. A new kicker with limited experience that didn't do well that game. He changed my doubts after last week. 3 for 3 with a 49-yarder... hello. His stats for the year look real good now. Hopefully, he keeps that up.

The thing that excites me is this is one well-rounded team! Injuries have been held at a minimum. Confidence is definitely up! Unfortunately, we can no longer 'sneak up' on teams. But, it's great that teams will no longer look at us as a 'bye' week. We are, officially, NO LONGER the doormats of the Big 12!! A long time in coming. We actually got one vote in the AP Poll... something that has not happened in 7 years. Ouch.

The thing that makes this cool is that we are 4-1 with 4 out 5 games being on the road. If you told me that last year, I would have thought you were drunk/crazy/drunk & crazy. Of course, our schedule wasn't as tough as it has been in past years, but we won't mention that.

My prediction... I don't know about Nebraska, but I am calling a victory against Oklahoma this year. You heard it here first.

Between finishing with Mizzou and OK State, we SHOULD be able to get a win on one of those (or both... please, please, please.) It would be nice to skip 2 conference wins in one year and go right to 3. I think we have the team to do it.

    Whew!

  • Holy crap! I can't believe I forgot to tell you guys that I am going to Homecoming with my Dad this weekend. I have had WAY too much going on lately.

The last time I was back on campus was when Rob & I went... I believe it was 4 years ago (?)

I am sorry I didn't say anything sooner, it's just been crazy here, I'll have to fill you in later. Anywho... Dad sort of surprised me with this. He hasn't been back since my graduation and thought it would be a good guy trip. Of course, I'm getting really excited to be going. We are leaving Thursday and returning on Sunday (flying into Dallas).

I'll take pictures and share them when I get back. We should SERIOUSLY think about doing a trip all together sometime like next year... when the football team is 6-1, bowl-bound, and ranked #14 in the country. Sound good?
