Basketball

Well, the Lady Bears start their Tourney on Saturday with a game against Northern Arizona. We weren't nearly as dominant this year as we were last year. So... how well do you think we will do this year? Another National Championship? Eliminated early getting caught looking ahead?

Having #1 and #2 seeds Ohio St. and Maryland playing so far away from home helps I think, providing we make it that far. It would be nice to at least get to the Final Four again. I think we can do it... hopefully.

Switching to the Men... I will, of course, be cheering for the Illini. However, I'm afraid we are not as strong as we were last year. I think last year was our chance. Locally, Bradley is in the Tournament for the first time in 10 years. Bradley is here in Peoria. I'm not a fan. So, it would be nice to see Kansas and the Big 12 win it. Not a lot of Kansas fans here in Illinois, mainly because Bill Self spurned the Illini with his move to coach the Jayhawks. Memories have not faded here in Illinois, even though almost everyone believes Bruce Weber is a better coach.

Well, Jeff, who are you cheering for now that Arkansas has been eliminated? Go Bucknell? Rob... we all know who you are cheering for.

Let's hear some thoughts...
Make a post you slackers!

  • Oh, the tournament started?

Seriously, now that I'm out of Wildcat country, basketball is pretty much that sport that happens between football and spring training...

I keep up with how the Lady Bears are doing, but that's about it. We're certainly not as hot as last year, and some other teams look really good. I don't think we'll take it all, but we'll make a good showing.

Yes, I do know that Arkansas lost today -- I do live in the state, you know. :)

Anyway, so did anyone really think the US had a chance in the world baseball classic?

Opening day is just weeks away!

Can't wait to kick a little Cubbie butt in the new stadium!

  • Well, nobody in Illinois figured that the Illini would be eliminated BEFORE Bradley, but here we are. Even more hard to believe, is they are advancing to the Sweet 16. The team is loaded with talent, but their coach is not the best. If they hadn't finished the season strong, he would be looking for a new job right now. But, now he guaranteed himself another couple of years.

So, Jeff... will the Cardinals' stadium be ready in time?
